Polystyrene urns and barrels cut using a hot wire, turned on the lathe, scrimmed, textured and painted, with rope and leather details.
Creating ‘still life’ from bought objects for a banqueting table. Using adhesives and fixtures and painting for the right look. Creating space for performers to move about on the table, logistics of setting the stage, set dressing and working with a large team.
Glyndebourne Festival Opera 2015
This dressmaker's mannequin needed to be re-covered in white fabric. A pattern was taken with clingfilm and tape, a bit of adjustment ensured it had a close fit to the shape.
Fabric work, sewing and soft furnishing working with modern and traditional fabrics, dying and breaking down. A "tissue paper" box was needed for Beatrice and Benedict, the box opens and closes with the paper always popping up in the same position. Light weight wires were sewn into channels in the fabric and fishing line used to secure the corners.

Re-upholstery and furniture restoration. Stripping covers from chairs to make a pattern, adjusting to cover in required fabric, adding trimmings, when needed ageing and breaking down.
Using a variety of materials to make trees for stage. These fig trees are welded steel frames, covered in foam pipe lagging and tape. Expanding foam was sculpted, scrim added, textured and painted.
Colour matching and mixing, painting and glazing. Working from old photographs as a reference, planning the pattern of gold detailing, scaling up and marking out.
